Abstract

Goal. To develop a method of processing ethanolcontaining soap stock into hand-cleaning paste technology. Methods. Comparative assessment of washing ability of the investigated composition and the control solution in a laboratory washing machine. The foaming capacity of samples of soap stock-based hand soap and commercial hand soap was determined by the Ross–Miles method. The results were worked out by mathematical methods using Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and Statistica software packages. Results. In the washing paste technology, it is proposed to use a 40% aqueous solution of ethanol-containing soap stock, the cleaning capacity of which is 92–98% at a temperature of interaction with the contaminated material of 25–40°C. The effect on the consistency of soap stock-based hand sanitizer consistency was experimentally investigated by the content of such components as the thickener — carboxymethyl cellulose, and the structuring agent — cetyl stearyl alcohol. It was determined that the 0.4–0.6% concentration of carboxymethyl cellulose and 1.8–2.0% of cetyl stearyl alcohol ensured the creation of a plastic cream-like structure of the paste with an effective glossy surface. The effective viscosity of a washing paste sample (32 Pas) containing 0.5% of carboxymethyl cellulose and 2% cetyl stearyl alcohol was experimentally determined. A comparative analysis of the quality indicators of the developed paste for cleaning hands based on ethanol-containing soap stock with a sample of a commercial analog was carried out. Quality indicators of the developed washing paste were as follows: effective viscosity at a temperature of 20–22 °C — 32 Pas, foaming capacity — 23 mm, foam stability — 62%, washing capacity — 92%. The comparative analysis showed the conformity of the quality indicators of the developed paste and “Primaterra avtomobilna” hand-cleaning paste. In addition, the detergent obtained from ethanol-containing soap stocks contained a complex of substances with a pronounced antiseptic effect, which increased the competitiveness of the obtained product. Conclusions. The obtained scientific results made it possible to use the ethanol-containing waste from the neutralization of oils as a raw material for hand-cleaning paste.
