Abstract

Goal. To determine the algorithm for organizing soil monitoring using the available scientific output of long-term field experiments in Ukraine. Methods. Dialectical, monographic, abstract. Results. The first block of the organization of soil monitoring based on long-term field experiments is their re-inventory by filling out a form questionnaire with an extended hierarchical structure of metadata and an experimental block for each functioning experiment. The summary of the inventory is the Register catalog of long-term field experiments in Ukraine, which contains general information, characteristics of the natural conditions of the territory, methods of setting up the experiment, comprehensive characteristics of the soil and the parameters of soil indicators, which were established before setting up the experiment. Using the information of the Register Catalog, the performers of soil monitoring determine the monitoring indicator(s), and submit requests to the relevant performing institutions to obtain the results of research in the existing dynamics. The obtained results are processed, and then they fix changes in the state and quality of soils and identify possible degradation risks or manifestations of degradation. A proposal was submitted to create a network of long-term field experiments in Ukraine with its approval at the state level and the granting the national status. Conclusions. The improved algorithm for the organization of scientific information of long-term field experiments for the implementation of soil monitoring tasks provides for their inventory, followed by the formation of a corresponding Register Catalog and the creation of the Ukrainian network of stationary field experiments, which is used by soil monitoring performers to identify the manifestation and development of degradation processes and developing ways to prevent/suspend them.
