Abstract

Goal. To reveal the peculiarities of the formation and representation of a secondary information resource as a reference journal «Agro-industrial Complex of Ukraine» of the National Scientific Agricultural Library (NSAL) of NAAS, which is constantly transforming, reflecting the main trends in the development of agricultural science. Methods. General scientific (analysis and synthesis), classification, comparative, and retrospective methods were used. Results. The first issue of the magazine «Agro-industrial Complex of Ukraine», intended for reviewing scientific periodicals on agricultural topics and related fields of knowledge, was published in 1999. Reviewing of abstracts is done by a group of scientific consultants — leading Ukrainian agricultural scientists of relevant specializations. During its existence, the publication underwent many changes caused by the requirements of the time and primarily related to the presentation of the material. Thus, three sections were added to the magazine: «History of Agricultural Science» (2001), «Food and Processing Industry» (2003), and «Biotechnology» (2011). Taking into account that online access to information resources through the Internet is the most efficient, since 2016 the journal was presented on the website of the NSAL in the «Publications» section, and the «Ukragroteka» electronic catalog. In 2021, to join the magazine to the International System of Serial Publications, the Book Chamber named after Ivan Fedorov assigned it an ISSN — a unique number used to identify the publication. Over the years of the magazine’s existence, 98 issues were published, in which more than 37,000 scientific publications were presented. Starting with No. 3–4 for 2022, the pages of the publication contain abstracts of articles on the consequences caused by the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in the field of the agro-industrial complex. Conclusions. Possible directions for improving the work and increasing the prestige of the journal are highlighted: publication of abstracts of articles by foreign agricultural scientists, use of hypertext links to electronic formats of scientific publications, and submission of abstracts in two languages — Ukrainian and English.
