Basics of biosecurity of poultry farms regarding the spread of riemerellosis and ornithobacteriosis of poultry

Abstract
Goal. To sample field isolates of causative agents of riemerellosis and ornithobacteriosis and study their biological properties, conduct epizootological survey of farms regarding the prevalence of riemerellosis and ornithobacteriosis in poultry farms of Ukraine. Methods. Epizootological, clinical, patho-anatomical, virological, serological, biochemical, and statistical methods were used. VLR-200 scales, TS-80 M and ZC-1125 MU-42 thermostats, SUP-4 drying cabinets, Biolam R-1 and Biolam R-15 microscopes, RS-6 and CRL-1 centrifuges, pH meter, StatFax 2010 reader were used during the research. Results. Using the results of clinical, pathological-anatomical, and bacteriological studies conducted in 2021–2023, methods of diagnosing waterfowl riemerellosis and ornithobacteriosis were developed, the use of which made it possible to increase the effectiveness of treatment by 15–20%. Epizootological examination and confirmation of the diagnosis of riemerellosis was carried out in six poultry farms, and examination for ornithobacteriosis was carried out in five farms in three regions of Ukraine (Kharkiv, Poltava, and Sumy). For the first time on the territory of Ukraine, the circulation of the causative agent of waterfowl riemerellosis in goslings and ducklings under the age of 2 months was confirmed in two farms, and the circulation of the causative agent of ornithobacteriosis in broilers and turkeys was confirmed in two other farms. With the use of the developed diagnostics methods, isolates of causative agents of riemerellosis and ornithobacteriosis were isolated and their biological properties were studied. Analytical reports on the biological properties of the causative agents of these diseases were prepared and the most effective antibacterial agents against riemerel and ornithobacteria were determined. Conclusions. For the first time on the territory of Ukraine, the circulation of causative agents of riemerellosis and ornithobacteriosis was confirmed. Methods of laboratory diagnostics research were developed, which made it possible to isolate the strains of pathogens of ornithobacteriosis and riemerellosis. The sensitivity of these pathogens to the appropriate groups of antibiotics was established. Methods of diagnostics of ornithobacteriosis and riemerellosis of poultry using clinical, patho-anatomical, bacterial, and biochemical studies were proposed.
