Abstract

The purpose. To develop a method for determination of content of water-soluble carbohydrates (sugars) in feedstuffs and to compare an estimation of their content to data of other contributors. Methods. Titrometric. They boiled 5 g of feedstuffs in 200 ml of distilled water during 30 mines, filtered through nylon tissue, and then determined initial titratable acidity. Then they added lactic acid bacteria for fermentation of sugars up to lactic acid in thermostat at 37°C during 24 hours and determined titratable acidity. Results. Method of determination of water-soluble carbohydrates (sugars) in feedstuffs which extract from feedstuffs by distilled water is developed. The variance in indexes of titratable acidity before and after incubation is a value of lactic acid which was formed after enzymatic breakdown of water-soluble carbohydrates (sugars) of feedstuff, and it is identical to value of their content in feedstuff. The content of water-soluble carbohydrates (sugars) in different kinds of grasses specified by their method is equal to that of some contributors who used other methods, but have unessential divergences. In the developed method in water extract pass practically all fractions of water-soluble carbohydrates which are in feedstuff. The carried out researches testify to transition in aquatic environment of starch together with simple sugars and disaccharides. Conclusions. The developed method of determination of content of water-soluble carbohydrates (sugars) in voluminous and concentrated foods is expedient for use in laboratory researches according to quality and nutritional value of feedstuffs, and also at formulation of rations, especially for milk herd. Glucose is necessary for synthesis of lactose of milk in lactiferous gland of a cow, therefore for formation of 1 l of milk with the content of 45-50 g of lactose the cow should get in structure of ration 120 g of starch with sugar.
