M.M. Wolf — a scientist who implemented the planning and methodology of the scientific experiment for agriculture of Ukraine

Abstract

Goal. To reveal the significant milestones of life and creative path, to summarize the main scientific achievements of the talented scientist agrarian, organizer of domestic industry research, and agricultural education Moisei Mykhailovych Wolf. Methods. General scientific — analysis, synthesis, classification; historical — problem-chronological, comparative-historical, retrospective, biographical. Results. The contribution of the scientist to the formation of the Kharkiv Regional Agricultural Research Station, the Agricultural Scientific Committee of Ukraine, the Scientific Advisory Board of the NKSA of the UkrSSR, the All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences named after VI Lenin is highlighted. His role in the spread of vocational education as a member of the Commission on Agricultural Education in the People’s Commissariat of Land of Ukraine is shown. The creative initiatives of M. Wolf are revealed on the introduction of the course «Agricultural Economics» in the sectoral educational process, as well as on the opening of the statistical faculty at the Kharkiv Institute of National Economy. Conclusions. The scientific heritage of the scientist is systematized in the following directions: agronomy; economics and organization of agriculture; statistics; conducting and history of domestic agricultural research; methodology of scientific experiment and its mathematical substantiation. It is proved that M. Wolf became the founder, theorist, and practitioner of the introduction of planning in the development of agriculture in the UkrSSR, as well as market agricultural statistics.
