Abstract

Goal. To determine the methodical basis of comparison the national soil nomenclature with the international system WRB. Methods. Comparative-geographical involves the comparison of soils and relevant factors of soil formation in different regions of the world in order to identify distinct and identical spatial aspects of development, in particular, the structure of the profile and features of territorial distribution; profile-analytical — to determine the properties of soils and their characteristics based on the study of individual soil profiles; calculation-substantive — carrying out calculations to determine soil properties; deductive — for determining individual scientific propositions on the basis of general ones. Results. The main diagnostic indicators and characteristics of soils, necessary for correlation between the national classification and the international WRB system are highlighted and their brief description are given. The ability to use relative coefficients: the coefficient of relative accumulation of humus (CRAH), the coefficient of profile accumulation of humus (CPAH) and the coefficient of regressivity of the organoprofile (OPRC) for the harmonization of classification approaches is shown. An algorithm for comparing soil names in the national classification (legends to soil maps) and WRB is given. The national nomenclature was harmonized with the international one for the legend of the soil map of Ukraine on a scale of 1: 200,000 using the developed methodical approaches. The search for diagnostic properties and analytical characteristics inherent in the soil was carried out to determine the reference soil group, establishing the necessary qualifiers of the WRB system. The soil correlation algorithm at the species level with the WRB system was tested using the example of the Chkalovska territorial community of the Kharkiv region. Conclusions. The information resource of soil diagnostics of Ukraine allows to establish correspondence between the national and international nomenclature of soils. Comparison of the names of soil units is carried out in a certain sequence, with the inclusion of diagnostic indicators of the WRB system. It is appropriate to use the relative coefficients of the ecological and genetic status of soils to harmonize their names with international ones.
